  • Women Who Walk - Pop-Up Summer Walking

    Want to gather with others for occasional walks during the summer? Register to be notified of dates, times, and locations of opportunities. Some walks will begin at the District Education Center and follow a 1 to 1.5 mile route with the option to extend to the walk to 2.5+ miles if desired. Other walks will be at various locations, TBD. Routes may vary based on group preference and weather. Friendly dogs are welcome! Typically walks are Thursdays at 9AM. Specific dates are communicated via email.   • Strength and Balance for Adults 55+

    This group class will help older adults regain strength, balance and flexibility to reduce falls and increase independence. Classes are taught by nationally certified fitness professionals, all trainers have been certified in the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program (AFEP). The Arthritis Foundation certification indicates that your trainer has had additional training to help adapt exercises and movements to better accommodate those participants who have arthritis.   • Pickleball July 14 - 18

    Pickleball players of all experience levels are invited to come and enjoy our indoor court! Our summer location for pickleball is O.H.Anderson Elementary. The District Education Center is closed to the public this summer due to construction. Court time reservations are available for 1 or 2 hours, various times during the day (Monday-Friday). Only one player from your group needs to register ahead of time for your desired court time. Bring your own equipment. Players should wear comfortable clothes, athletic shoes and bring a bottle of water.
  • 55+ 4-Hour Defensive Driving Class

    If you are 55 or older, save money on your car insurance premiums and become a better driver. Minnesota law requires that insurance companies offer a 10% reduction on auto insurance for three years if you complete a state-approved defensive driving course taught by professional, certified instructors. Virtual and in-person classes available. No driving or test required. At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion to provide to your insurance agent.

    Join us for an educational presentation for anyone who wants to know more about Medicare! New to the world of Medicare or thinking of changing your plan? We will discuss Parts A, B, C, & D of Medicare, the application process, estimated costs, supplements, MAPD, and how to determine the right time to sign up. This an ideal course for people turning 65, those over 65 and coming off their employer medical plan, as well as those currently enrolled in Medicare.
  • Day Trip: Como Zoo Conservatory and Lunch at Cossetta's

    Join us in exploring the Como Park Conservatory! We will take a tour through the many gardens of the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory as you explore the Jewel of Como and learn about their rich history. Go behind-the-scenes and uncover how the garden staff keep the conservatory looking lush and green all year long and produce the many flower shows. This tour is a unique opportunity to “peek behind the curtains” of the Conservatory and get your daily dose of green! After the conservatory tour, there will be time to explore Como's grounds, including a 10% discount at Como's Garden Safari Gifts. Then we will be having lunch, on your own, in downtown St. Paul at Cossetta's Italian Market & Pizzeria. Please bring money for lunch or to purchase something for lunch or items from the Italian Grocery store or the pasticceria. This day trip is not wheelchair accessible. This trip is walker accessible.     Join us to make cocktails like a pro! Learn how to make two cocktails at the Velveteen Speakeasy in Stillwater. During this interactive class, hosted by Velveteen bartenders, you will hear about speakeasy history, mixology techniques, and make your own cocktails in this private, relaxed environment. Your registration fee covers all costs for use of materials (jigger, shaker, etc.), alcohol, and bartender gratuity. June 23rd is Gin cocktails, 1920's era August 19th is Bourbon themed cocktails, a modern approach $19 is due per person for registration. $60 is due per person (cash or card) the night of the class.

    This women's (Ages 13+) self-defense seminar will help you acquire the strategies and skills sets necessary to protect yourself from attack situations which are common and unique to females. Learn preemptive tactics, escape maneuvers, verbal interventions, physical techniques, and the effective use of self-defense devices, in order to quickly, and successfully, end a potentially dangerous encounter or assault. A strong emphasis will also be placed on empowering the mind, which is of paramount importance in prevailing in an attack. Come see for yourself how this seminar will give you the supreme confidence and extraordinary power to face any threatening situation. Ages 13-15 must be accompanied by a registered adult, Ages 16-17 with an adult (female or male) who stays to observe.
