Preschool is an exciting time for young learners. Building on what children have learned from their parents as their first teachers, Mahtomedi Area Preschool (MAP) helps prepare them for the world of kindergarten.

MAP takes 3-5 year-olds through daily activities that strengthen social-emotional, physical, and cognitive development. The curriculum features exploration and discovery as a way of learning. Math, language, and literacy skills are sharpened in MAP, as is self-regulation. Along the way, children further develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking abilities. Teachers and associates truly get to know each child as they grow together through their MAP experience.

2026-2027 Preschool Registration Opens on January 20th at 8:00 AM for Current Enrolled Early Childhood families.

In-District Families opens January 27th at 8:00 Am and Registration Opens to all on February 3rd at 8:00 AM.

2026-27 PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION GUIDELINES

• Enrollment is not guaranteed and is based on space availability. Once you complete the online registration, you will be put on a “pending approval status” in the order the registration is received. Your credit card will not be charged for the registration fee until your child is confirmed in the program. To ensure timely processing, please submit all required documents within ten business days of your time-stamped registration. Incomplete registrations after this timeframe will be placed at the end of the enrollment queue. You will not be confirmed in the program until ALL Required Forms are received. Once you are approved, you will receive an email confirmation and your credit card will be charged the registration fee.
• Annual preschool registration requires a non-refundable fee of $80.
• After registrations meet the maximum number, additional registrations go onto the waitlist and if space becomes available, you will be notified.
• Preschoolers may only be registered for ONE preschool class.
• Monthly tuition is processed via auto-pay on the first business day of each month.
• No additions to classes or class changes will be allowed August 15-Sept. 15. After Sept. 15, please contact us at 651-407-2441 for registration and/or class changes.
• Preschool students must be potty-trained:

*Special circumstances are accommodated due to medical needs or children on an IEP.

REQUIRED FORMS

IMMUNIZATION DOCUMENTATION is required for approval of your registration. CLICK HERE to view and print the Immunization Form. Enter the dates in the form and sign. Or you can email a printed Immunization form from your provider to Laura Nerison OR fax to 651-407-2025 (attn. Laura Nerison)

• The Immunization form includes the option for Conscientious Exemption that needs to be signed by a Medical Provider and Notarized. This also should be sent to Laura Nerison.
• BIRTH CERTIFICATE document is required for approval of your registration. A copy of the child's birth certificate can be emailed to Laura Nerison OR fax to 651-407-2025 (attn. Laura Nerison)
• All 4-year-old preschool students are required to have had an Early Childhood Screening or have an appointment for Early Childhood Screening. For screening appointments, click HERE
• Complete all questionnaires online.
• The Student & Family Handbook must be read and agreed to when emailed prior to the students first day of school. 
• A form of payment must be provided

CANCELLATION POLICY: When you register for preschool, you are registering for the entire school year: Sept.-May. Cancellation midyear requires a 2-week written notice and a $50 fee. If you cancel between June 30 and July 31, 2026, a $75 cancellation fee will be charged. If you cancel on or after August 1, 2026, you will be responsible for the first month's FULL tuition.

TRANSPORTATION: Transportation to and from school is the family's responsibility. Fee-based transportation is available for 4-5 year olds who live on existing transportation routes AND are registered for Full Day Preschool classes that meet 9:05 AM-3:35 PM. Transportation forms and payment MUST be submitted to the Early Childhood Office by July 1.
