Families, friends, and individuals (ages 5+) are invited to gather in the Mahtomedi High School Pottery Studio for a hands-on, heart-filled pottery experience. Together, participants will learn how to create handmade ceramic bowls that will be donated to the Empty Bowls event taking place later this winter.
Empty Bowls is a global movement that uses art and food to spark conversation and raise awareness about food insecurity. At an Empty Bowls event, guests make a monetary donation, choose a bowl created by you or other local artists, and enjoy a simple meal, serving as a reminder that many neighbors face empty bowls every day.
During this pottery session, you will explore the basics of working with clay, shape their own bowls, and experience the joy of creating something meaningful together. While you won’t take your bowl home, your creation will play a direct role in supporting a charitable cause and helping others in need. This unique event blends creativity, community, and compassion, which offers the chance to learn a new artistic skill and make a lasting impact through art. Students (ages 5+) must enroll with a registered adult.
