The Art of Soapmaking - NEW

Adults / Arts, Crafts & Culinary -
2026 Summer

During this demonstration and lecture format class, you will explore the art and science of traditional soap making using the cold process method, a technique that has existed for thousands of years. John Hanson, Owner/Maker of Longfellow Soap Company, will walk you through each step of the process, explaining how simple natural ingredients are transformed into handmade soap.

Due to the use of lye, this class is presented in a demonstration format for safety, allowing you to learn so you can confidently recreate the process at home.

Each participant will receive a copy of a comprehensive teaching manual to take home. This includes an ingredient list, recommended equipment, recipes, step-by-step instructions, and trusted sources for purchasing essential oils, ingredients, and supplies. You will also receive three bars of soap to enjoy.
