  • MS Individual Summer Band Lessons - Baumgartner

    To get the most out of the band experience, private lessons on the given instrument are encouraged. Professional instructors offer the extra attention necessary to help your musician reach his/her full potential, and it is done on a schedule which is convenient for the student. The student will receive personalized instruction from a teacher who specializes in his/her instrument. All questions regarding the lessons and scheduling of lesson time will be handled by the individual band instructors. Please contact the instructor to schedule the lesson time, and then proceed to complete registration. Six 30-minute lessons to be scheduled with the instructor.   • Summer - Middle School Beginner Band (entering grade 6)

    Welcome to Summer Band! All 5th graders who registered for 6th grade Band at Mahtomedi Middle School (2025-26) are strongly encouraged to take part in this summer opportunity. This camp is also for any students who are starting an instrument for the first time. Students will be learning the beginning basics of their instrument and will be working with a professional musician and teacher on their instrument in instrument-specific sessions. These sessions will be used to prepare your student for playing on their first day of band class. Skills they will learn include, but are not limited to: instrument assembly, proper posture/hand placement, embouchure formation, breath support, warm-up skills, reading notes/rhythms, and instrument care. Students will attend classes with the same instruments, as different instruments require different instruction for many skills.
