    Join us at Saint Croix Vineyards for a hands-on intermediate embroidery class! This class is designed for people who know basic embroidery skills, and are ready to extend their learning to new stitches such as the blanket stitch, fly stitch, basket weave, and more! Each participant will receive the following materials to keep: A practice cotton fabric sampler to learn and experiment with various intermediate stitches Thread and needles Guided by experienced instructors, you’ll learn intermediate stitches step-by-step. Enjoy a cozy, social atmosphere with plenty of time to sip, stitch, and socialize. The tasting room at Saint Croix Vineyards will be open throughout the class, offering a selection of their refreshments available for purchase.   • Pottery Workshop - Families, Friends, and Individuals (ages 8+) - NEW

    This class is for those who love to create things with their hands. During this pottery workshop, participants will use a slab roller, extruder and an electric pottery wheel. Participants will use a variety of colors to glaze their pieces at the end of class. Both new and returning students are welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring an apron or towel, as well as clothing that can get messy, as working with clay is a hands-on creative process.There's a $25 supply fee per person due to the instructor at the beginning of class (cash, Venmo, or check). Students (ages 8+) must sign up with a registered adult. (Register each person individually)
  • Pottery Workshop: Empty Bowl Event (adult with student ages 5+) - NEW

    Families, friends, and individuals (ages 5+) are invited to gather in the Mahtomedi High School Pottery Studio for a hands-on, heart-filled pottery experience. Together, participants will learn how to create handmade ceramic bowls that will be donated to the Empty Bowls event taking place later this winter. Empty Bowls is a global movement that uses art and food to spark conversation and raise awareness about food insecurity. At an Empty Bowls event, guests make a monetary donation, choose a bowl created by you or other local artists, and enjoy a simple meal, serving as a reminder that many neighbors face empty bowls every day. During this pottery session, you will explore the basics of working with clay, shape their own bowls, and experience the joy of creating something meaningful together. While you won’t take your bowl home, your creation will play a direct role in supporting a charitable cause and helping others in need. This unique event blends creativity, community, and compassion, which offers the chance to learn a new artistic skill and make a lasting impact through art. Students (ages 5+) must enroll with a registered adult.

Participants will learn essential hand sewing and sewing machine techniques while creating an original project of your choice. All materials are provided during the class, such as fabrics, elastic, cord, buttons, velcro, ribbon, patterns, and sewing machines. This class is ideal for beginners or those looking to build confidence and practical sewing skills. Age 16+
  • Sourdough 101

    Come learn the Art of Sourdough! This is a very hands-on class where you get to go through all the initial steps of mixing the dough, discuss the whole process of how to make a loaf of bread, feed your new sourdough starter and learn how to maintain it, and get every question answered! Materials and ingredients are provided: a bowl, a jar with sourdough starter, a dough whisk, a spatula, flour, water, salt, a handout with access to a very informative guide that will help you throughout your sourdough journey, and you also get to taste some fresh bread and sourdough cookies throughout class! (all materials are YOURS to bring home). You have the choice to bring your own food scale or we will provide one for you to keep for an additional $15 fee. Come join this fun, amazing and creative community of sourdough baking! It’s truly life changing. Students ages 10 and up can register with a registered adult.   • The Art of Soapmaking - NEW

    During this demonstration and lecture format class, you will explore the art and science of traditional soap making using the cold process method, a technique that has existed for thousands of years. John Hanson, Owner/Maker of Longfellow Soap Company, will walk you through each step of the process, explaining how simple natural ingredients are transformed into handmade soap. Due to the use of lye, this class is presented in a demonstration format for safety, allowing you to learn so you can confidently recreate the process at home. Each participant will receive a copy of a comprehensive teaching manual to take home. This includes an ingredient list, recommended equipment, recipes, step-by-step instructions, and trusted sources for purchasing essential oils, ingredients, and supplies. You will also receive three bars of soap to enjoy.
